Maker: LADISLAV PROKOP, 1843-1919

Place: Chrudim, Pardubice, Eastern Bohemia, in the former Czechoslovakia

Age: approximately 100 years

Model: C trumpet with rotary valves

Alloy:  yellow-brass with nickel silver trimmings and nickel silver bell garland / ‘kranz’ (width 25 mm)

Bell diameter: 130 mm

Valve compression: very good

Further details: its overall visual / cosmetic condition is ‘good / has seen some use’.  Although this lovely trumpet was very recently fully overhauled, some of the brass surfaces have a few small and insignificant dings. Many details of its workmanship are really beautiful, e.g. there are floral engravings not only on the rotor caps but also on the rotor collar retaining screws, the clock-spring housings and even the lever linkage connecting struts.  FIFTEEN floral engravings in total!

This superb trumpet plays with a lovely, round and sweet tone, and would be ideal for chamber orchestra repertoire.  I can well imagine that the great Czech trumpeter Vaclav Junek (Czech Philharmonic) may have used such an instrument.

It comes with the official L. Prokop printed brochure/ catalogue dating from the early 1920s.

No case or mouthpiece is provided.
