The 1889 World Fair in Paris celebrated, for 6 months,
the 100th anniversary of the French Revolution as well as
the strength of France's national industry, under the
auspices of the Republic and its colonial empire.
The Eiffel Tower was built for this World Fair, at which
the newly-invented phonograph was exhibited and demonstrated.
This very rare book, in French, by Constant Pierre, includes
a remarkably detailed description (pp 193-212) of
Henri Chaussier's Cor Omnitonique, the horn for
which Saint-Saëns wrote his 'Morceau de Concert', Op.94, in 1887.
