MAKER:  FINKE (Germany)

MODEL:  CLASSICAL NATURAL HORN

with crooks, its 'corpus' (body) based on an early 19th

century hand horn by Franz Stöhr, Prague,

Bohemia.

Age: approximately 20 years

Its set of crooks, almost complete, comprises:

•  6 tapered terminal crooks for A, G, F, Eb, D and C basso, plus a cylindrical 'coupler', a circular extension tube that is used only in combination with a crook, lowering the key of that crook.

•   The crooks and coupler will give the following keys:

A alto; Ab alto, achieved via the A crook with the tuning slide extended; G; F#, achieved by the G crook with the tuning slide extended; F; E, achieved by the F crook with the tuning slide extended; Eb; D; C basso, Bb basso, achieved by the C basso crook plus the coupler.

NB: The tuning slide is long enough to give pitches from A 440 down to A 415.

 •   'MARCUS BONNA' case with a detachable compartment for the crooks.

This lovely horn, personally hand made by JOHANNES

FINKE, has had only occasional light use. Quite apart from

playing superbly, it is aesthetically beautiful, its elegant bell

flare being enhanced both visually and acoustically by a broad

garland (kranz).
