Maker:  ENGELBERT SCHMID

Model:  ES1

Type: full double in F/Bb or Bb/F.

TWO Detachable Medium bell flares, one 'hand-hammered'

          and  the other 'spun'.

Alloy: Lacquered yellow brass, nickel silver leadpipe.

Overall condition: Very good, with slight lacquer wear in the

expected places, and a few minor dings in the hand-

hammered flare.

Weight: 2.25 kg

2 water keys, conventional type.

Case: Schmid/Cardo, airline-friendly,  in excellent condition.

Further details: a really lovely example of Schmid's 'classic'

ES1 double horn; a wonderful player all round.

The only reason why it is for sale is that its owner now has a

Schmid triple horn.

I do remember very clearly that just before he bought this

superb horn,  I was hoping that he wouldn't,  so that I could

buy it myself!

An interesting  bonus of the Schmid design is that the two main

slides can be pulled out far enough to give E/A rather than

F/Bb.  Very useful for e.g. the Spohr Octet in E or the Weber

Concertino in E.
