Maker: CONN

Model: 28D

Made in 1992

Type: Full double F/Bb

Alloy: lacquered yellow brass

Bell flare: detachable, converted, with Paxman rings

installed.

Visual / cosmetic condition: good, some lacquer wear in

expected places, and also where the bell has been

converted and the detachable leadpipe installed.

Valve compression: very good

Water key: conventional type, on the leadpipe.

Case: 'MB-style', detachable bell, compact and

reasonably lightweight.

Further details: A very good ‘post Elkhart’ 28D

with an unusually clear and 'slotted' high

register.

In addition, it displays all the other Conn virtues:

a potentially large sound, a wide dynamic

range and a superb legato.

Its leadpipe is the Conn original, detachable via an

ingenious system similar but not identical to that on

Holton's Models 104 and 105.

Although a 'professional quality' instrument,

it is also listed in the 'intermediate' category,

owing to its 'below £2000' price.
